| As Einstein is supposed to have said, human stupidity - in contrast to the universe - surely can be desribed as endless. A proof that he actually made this statement is obviously not available. But it suits him and his often fresh demeanour. If we look at the state of the planet back then, and even more today, that statement is just true. In his time there were the senseless world wars and the misery that shook the world. Today, in the age of globalization, in addition to terrible regional warfare, such as in Syria, climatic disasters are occurring all over the world. Incidentally, Einstein made in his day much worse statements about civilized society, especially about the military, when most Germans moved enthusiastically into the First World War. He deeply despised the people in the "herd as such", "heroism by order", "senseless acts of violence" and the "pestilent nonsense on behave of patriotism". The pacifist unconventional thinker Albert Einstein left us with so many unflattering messages beyond his famous Theory of Relativity. And he was right. That is why, like many other people in the world, he has been pressing insistent and effective solutions to a just and peaceful world. To call Einstein in connection with ethical thinking is very enriching and inspiring. So far, here are my first thoughts and appeals:

Education and intellectual activity of all of us is important. We do well to use our unique opportunity to think about ourselves and our actions.
Man is always destructive; no regular wars are required. He protects the environment, but he also destroys it. He fattens and kills animals on the assembly line. Modern factory farming is a clear indication of widespread ignorance and indifference to natural resources and living beings in our modern democracies. Evidently, environmental, natural and animal protection as they are practiced are not sufficient to protect them comprehensively. Various associations, unions and initiatives and individuals are doing theirs to achieve improvements, because policy largely fails.
Not even the agreements of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change are respected, as we now have to realize. We can not rely on politics, we have to become active and stay active, as citizens, as entrepreneurs, whether small or big or in whatever social role. We all have to take responsibility.
